Every day, we do many things from morning until night. These are called daily routines. Learning how to talk about your daily routines in English is very useful. You can tell your friends what you do every day, and you can understand stories about other children. In this lesson, we will learn common daily routine words and sentences. We will also practice with some fun activities!
First, let’s think about a typical day. What do you do when you wake up? Do you brush your teeth? Do you eat breakfast? Let’s go step by step.
Morning Routines
The morning is when we start our day. Here are some common morning activities:
- Wake up – Open your eyes and get out of bed.

Grammar Tip: Present Simple Tense
When we talk about daily routines, we usually use the present simple tense. For I, you, we, they: use the base verb. For he, she, it: add -s or -es. For example:
- I wake up at 7 o’clock.
- She wakes up at 7 o’clock.
- They go to school by bus.
- He goes to school by bus.
Be careful with verbs that end in -ch, -sh, -s, -x, -o: add -es. For example: watch -> watches, go -> goes, do -> does. Also, for verbs ending in consonant + y, change y to i and add -es: study -> studies.
